Stay With It!
Jesus spoke truth when he said,
“Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders, you will never believe.” John 4:48
Our humanity severely limits our boundaries of faith to the point where that statement becomes truth. I also know we have a small amount of true faith because we’re told in Matthew that if we have faith as small as a mustard seed (and that is tiny), we can move mountains (Matthew 17:20).
So what happens when we do see a miracle? We just stop and stare. It befuddles us. We blink. Twice. Did that really happen? Is it going to “stick”?
I relate it to a game of soccer that I once saw my campers playing years ago. They would get to the ball, kick it, and then just stand there and watch it go. I – being raised in a non-athletic family – would hear my own voice screaming, “Kick the ball and stay with it! Follow it!”
Miracles happen the same way. We may spend a lot of time in prayer asking for one, and then, when one occurs, we stand back amazed at what God has done. Believe me, it was as hard for God as raising his pinky finger. So why don’t we follow the miracle and see how much more he can do through our faith and our prayers?
“For you make me glad by your deeds, O Lord;
I sing for joy at the work of Your hands.
How great are your works, O Lord,
how profound are your thoughts.” Psalm 92:4-5
Kick the ball, and stay with it!
Thanks for reading. This is just one of the ways I put a smile back in the world.
