Mundane, I Think Not!
I came across this much needed reminder when I was reading my old journals. Written in June of 2000, this prayer still holds a lot of truth for me now – especially after the drudgery of winter when I’m tempted to think that life is mundane and trivial.
Lord, I come into your presence. I have mail to one side of my journal, a napkin on the other, and your Word has just been closed before me. I’m still trying to listen to you, for I know you will lead me down the path of righteousness if I listen to your words and obey your commands.
Mighty, mighty, mighty are you, Lord God Almighty!
I do not face a day filled with mundane emptiness. Lord, my work may be trivial at times, but my days should never be because I serve a mighty God, capable of mighty acts – even in the midst of trivial work.
Just think of it! While all we can see on the surface of this mundane day is a laundry list of work that seems to go on and on with no end in sight, and yet, when you stop to think about it, won’t solve any world problems – beyond what we can perceive is a mighty God working in ways and hearts that we can’t comprehend. Not yet, anyway. One day… Until then we just have to trust him, that he is a good God doing a mighty work.
Take heart! Be bolstered! There really is more to life than what we can see, and that is good news!
Thanks for reading! This is just one of my ways of putting a smile back in the world!
